#DWS: The Summer Edition is here!

June 22, 2018

The third season of the DOFUS World Series is getting underway! Calendar, team restrictions, registration requirements: here is the initial information about the competition!

During the World Cup period, we know you all are hungry to compete! The calendar works out well because it's already time for you to prepare for the next season of the DOFUS World Series!

If you recall, the DWS are competitions that bring together the current top eight PvP teams, who face off in matches played over two legs in order to qualify for the semi-finals and then the grand final. Conquered two years in a row by the same 4 players, first as Allister Zoo and then as GamersOrigin, the DWS promise great entertainmentSunday and Monday evenings for more than two months.

But if you want to topple this season's best players, you'll have to make it through the qualifying rounds!

An unchanged qualification system

For first-timers, or for those of you with a bad memory, 16 Swiss-style rounds will be played to determine the top 32 teams out of a maximum of 1,500 teams registered.
This top 32 will then face off in a fight tree with automatic elimination, in BO3* format until the semi-finals and finals, which will be played in BO5.*

Following the finals, the winning team in the qualifiers will be directly qualified for the championship. The teams coming in second and third place will face off against the teams Orks Grand Poitiers and Exodia, respectively, in BO5 matches to earn their spot.

*BO3: In this format, a team must win two matches to be declared the winner. The results of a BO3 could be 2-0 or 2-1.

*BO5: In this format, a team must win three matches to be declared the winner. The results of a BO5 can therefore be 3-0, 3-1 or 3-2.

From the round of 32 in the qualification stage until the end of the competition, the team compositions will be cast aside to make way for the draft system. Each team will have to modify its composition before each match, carrying out a draft stage as follows:

  • A forbids a class
  • B forbids a class
  • A chooses a class
  • B chooses a class
  • B forbids a class
  • A forbids a class
  • B forbids a class
  • A forbids a class
  • B chooses a class
  • A chooses a class
  • A forbids a class
  • B forbids a class
  • A chooses a class
  • B chooses a class

As a reminder, when a class is forbidden, none of the two teams can choose it or forbid it again. When a class is chosen by one of the two teams, the other can no longer forbid it or choose it again.

How can you take Part?

To register for the tournament, you will need a team that includes 3 different players with a character of level 150 or more on a certified account in your name. Moreover, for the qualification stages, your team's composition must comply with the following rules:

  • Your team cannot contain more than one class from this list:
    • Osamodas
    • Sacrier
    • Xelor
    • Eniripsa
  • The following class pairings are forbidden:
    • Osamodas/Feca
    • Osamodas/Sadida
    • Osamodas/Enutrof
    • Eniripsa/Feca
    • Eniripsa/Pandawa
    • Eniripsa/Iop
    • Sacrier/Feca
    • Sacrier/Enutrof
    • Xelor/Sadida
    • Foggernauts/Iop
    • Foggernaut/Ecaflip
    • Sadida/Enutrof

Class double-ups are also forbidden, of course.

Your character's level and their equipment are not important. You will all use the same weapons in the arena, since the tournament will be played on a special server where all the characters will start off on equal footing:

  • Level 200;
  • All available special spells;
  • Basic characteristics at 100 plus 995 characteristic points to be assigned; and
  • A bank containing nearly all of the equipment available above level 160.

So, lack of equipment is no excuse to not register: you'll have the same chance as everyone else!

Please note: If you'd like to change your character's class so your team can register for the tournament, you'll need to do so before July 2 (11:59 p.m. CET), or your registration will be considered invalid. Similarly, you are also not permitted to reserve a server transfer for Tuesdays July 3rd, 10th and 17th.
